As the visionary behind The Zen Collective, Melanie's intention is to guide with compassion, wisdom, and grace. Her journey as a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200) began in 2018 when she felt a profound calling to share the transformative practices of Yoga and Energy Healing with the world.
​
​As both a teacher and a lifelong student deeply committed to her own personal growth and development, she leads by example, embodying humility, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to the practice of yoga.
​
Melanie is excited to share her knowledge, experience, and wisdom as she guides yogis through the transformative power of Breath.
She is a natural teacher, a graduate of Niagara University’s faculty of Education, so she has the skills and the innate gift to make learning simple and fun.
Yet Melanie did not intend to even teach Yoga when she did her own Yoga Teacher Training. She signed up when her daughter started University, as a way to challenge herself, at a transitional point in her life, and to hopefully finally lose some weight.
Soon, she realized that her body was strong and capable in ways that other skinny bodies were and were not. She had a new appreciation for what her unique body could do, and feel, regardless of its shape and weight. Melanie knew she had to share this body-acceptance and ease of body, mind and spirit with as many people as she could.
While Melanie is humbled to have been voted Niagara Falls favourite Yoga Teacher since she began teaching, she knows the personal transformation was the most profound part of Yoga Teacher Training.

Melanie's deep dive into the complex yet simple world of breath was ignited when she journeyed with her Mom to the end of her life after a long battle with cancer.
This is a very personal story and parts of it will be interwoven into our time together. But most importantly are the lessons she learned along the way through the intimacy of guiding someone through up-regulation, down-regulation, pain management with breath,
through observing the high tech imaging of the lungs accompanied by expert explanations from doctors,
through the sacred honour of being present for someone's last breath on Earth.
