About the event
Join me for an afternoon of discussing food, nourishment and the emotions that are hidden beneath.
It will be both nurturing and illuminating.
I spent many years studying nutrition, and I spent a very short time working in that field. I learned early on that food is so deeply connected to our emotions and there is more to health than having the perfect diet. Food can bring us pleasure, satiety and health, but also can be a key way we suppress what we are really feeling.
Throughout life so many things can happen (especially in childhood) that can make us stop trusting our gut, our intuition, and feel unsafe managing or expressing our emotions. This surprisingly enough can have a profound effect on the foods we choose and how worthy we feel of true nourishment. Your body is more intelligent than you know. It knows what you need, but we are more often than not told what we should eat, how we should feel or that our experiences aren't valid.
The more we withold and don't allow our instincts to guide our nourishment, we may begin to experience digestive disturbances because you can't let go, you are holding on to too much anger, have trouble setting boundaries, or there is little to no pleasure in your life, for example.
My philosophy is, when you can process and integrate the emotions, the physical will shift and how you live your life can change too!
This workshop is for you if...
- You know you need to make changes to your mind/body/health
- You want to find more pleasure in life in general
- You find it difficult to decide what you want...in food and in life
- You struggle with feeling or expressing your feelings
- You get overwhelmed easily and always looking for distractions
- You rarely take the time to enjoy life or celebrate
- You expereince unresolved digestive issues that affect your life
- You can't go through your day without your coffee, glass of wine (or other food/drink)
This workshop will be less about 'what to eat', and more about uncovering the emotional root of why you choose to eat something.
There will be general discussion about the hidden meanings behind the foods we most crave and what our digestive imbalances are trying to tell us. We will also move through a gentle yoga/movement practice and there will be time for journaling, reflection, questions and sharing.
