About the event

In this workshop we will explore pranayama (breath regulation) & meditation, history and philosophy according to classical yogic texts.  We will learn and practice breath awareness, a series of pranayama techniques and meditation. Together we will develop our knowledge and understanding of these techniques to help us establish and maintain a foundation for daily practice; how to find the time, space and energy to practice at home.

Pranayama & Meditation are best practiced on an empty stomach. It is suggested to have a light meal/snack before class if needed.  Please remember to bring your water bottle, mat, cushion and any comfort items for sitting/laying on the floor.  There will be a few spare items to borrow if you do not have these with you.  There are a few chairs for sitting as well.

You may wish to bring a notepad and pen.

Debbie will open and close the class with mantra.  You are welcome to join her in chanting or just relax and listen. All are welcome.  Free parking.  If you prefer to pay via e-transfer, please email Debbie (yogadivya@live.com) for details and to register, so you do not miss any important information. Please feel free to email anytime if you have any questions or concerns yogadivya@live.com

About Debbie:

Canadian born, Debbie (Divya) developed a daily practice in yogasana with Swami Shivanandaji in Goa, India. Swamiji's gentle and spiritual approach encouraged her to travel to the Himalayas to learn more of yoga philosophy and build a foundation of daily practice and lifestyle with these teachings.  This journey led her to the teachings of the Sivananda style of yoga, a system stemmed in Hatha yoga. She has been teaching since 2008 and continues to develop practice along her journey. Debbie lives in both the UK and Canada.
